Goodbye 1B

Well, our time in 1B has officially come to an end. Finals have ended, papers turned in and summer time has begun. Everyone is gone and our beloved apartment will get inspected (followed by some lovely fines for us I am sure), clean, dirtied again in the name of improvements and come September 8 new people will move in and have no idea that they have a blog. Jess, Katie, Anna and Sheena graduated on Saturday and will be moving on to jobs, graduate school and many years of sign language studying. Jenn and Randi will be embarking on their senior year at SU and will be moving next door to 1C (blog to follow?? ...probably not) with little Tresa while Kelly's moving to an apartment but will be visiting 1C frequently whether she knows it or not. :)

So, here's to 1B and all the fun times we have had.

Community Mourns the Loss of Beard

as many of you now know and may be in mourning about...Nick Patria's beard is no more.

the question on most of our hearts is this: what does this mean for the rest of us and the SU community as a whole...or possibly the world?

Nick claims to have valid reasons for shaving the beard off, but many of us in 1B can't help but wonder if perhaps the beard, in all its might, became too powerful for Nick and fell off on its own.

Did the secrets the beard held become too great for Nick, which forced him to shave it off?

What does this mean for the rest of us?
How do you as a reader think Nick's faithful, loving llama Buck Nasty feels about the situation?
Could the llamas emotional distress affect the Buck Nasty season?
will the loss of a beard mean the loss of a championship & end Nicks quest for a championship t-shirt?
OR did the beard really not have the powers that it claimed?

The exciting lives of Jenn and Randi

This past weekend Jenn and Randi attended the Youth Evangelism Conference (YEC) in Baltimore. The trip began with the wondrous "FWAWA" van containing Yodahe, Amanda, Jenn, Andrew T, Pat (the navigator), Josh (the driver), Kellyshugs, and myself (Randi). We arrived at Mount Pleasant Church Friday night and were immediately put to work. Throughout the weekend we got to "pump up the party" before sessions and act as security during concerts of Hawk Nelson, Da Truth, and Devin and some other guy that I can't remember his name who challenged us to "throw our V's up"Throughout the weekend the youth (middle-schoolers and high schoolers) got to hear awesome speakers, spend time in worship, attend breakout sessions and go to various service projects throughout the city. We worked more of the behind the scenes things and did not get to really hear from the youth directly but witnessing them worship and seeing them pray and many accept Christ was an amazing experience in itself. Anyway, very long story short, it was an amazing weekend and it excited my heart (yes, that makes sense) but I'll let some pictures speak for themselves.
The following does not describe the weekend at all, it's just funny:

How To Lose Fat In Your Face?

No worries. Tresa and I were concerned with the amount of facial fat we have and we decided to google the issue. We came across this article from Good Housekeeping. It gives seven steps to lose that fat!

Lose Facial Fat

No one wants to look like this!

So the actual 1B apartment was kinda boring, but again, we are not 1Boring. I did wash the couch covers which was very exciting! So please be gentle and careful when sitting on the couches. Anna and I also washed our kitchen sink...and it is now sparkling clean!--atleast for now. Yeah, that's about it..spring break soon! woo!

Jedi Beard?

In honor of Nick's beard...how do you feel about this beard?

Do you think it is a dreamcatcher as well? Does this man have Jedi powers? Does he get carded? There are so many questions to ask.

Feel free to leave your answers.

Women's Retreat Weekend

This past weekend six of the 1B ladies went to the CRU women's retreat in Upper Marlboro. We just stayed Friday night, but every minute was amazing.
One of the highlights from Friday night was the Redneck Beauty Pageant.

Jenn Booze sports her runway walk...

Overall...a fun time. :-)

In Memorium

It's about time we dedicate a post on 1B's blog to 1B's faithful friend, pet, and lover (for tresa anyway): Fish.

On February 13, 2008, Fish passed away. That evening the ladies of 1B, except for Kelly (who had legitamate reasons) and Katie (who is just cold hearted and cared nothing for fish), held a lovely funeral service in honor of our dear friend. Tresa was truly upset most of the day considering her close relationship with Fish, it may have been the hardest for her to accept the death of our friend.

He was loved greatly and will be remembered forever. Fish, you will be missed. The Hernandez Family is lonely on the table without you and we are too.

R.I.P.

The Weekend

Hello friends- Katie here,

This weekend 1B was very uneventful, not because we are "1Boring," but because there is nothing to do in Salisbury. We look forward to doing strange and crazy things once it gets warmer. Although the apartment was boring, the individuals were all out doing fun things.

Fellow 1B-er, Kelly Fahrner, turned 20 on Saturday. Woo! That was the most eventful thing probably, however, due to an upset stomach we did nothing. Sheena and Jenn decorated the living room for her at 4 in the morning with streamers and Happy Birthday signs.

1B welcomed back Randi as she was gone since TUESDAY for family reasons! UGH! It just was not the same...

For no reason whatsoever I am uploading this video from first semester:

For now friends, that is all.

Over and out,
Katie
